About Nathalie
Hello, my name is Nathalie I have dual Swiss and Colombian citizenships, and I'm a native French and English tutor currently residing in Colombia.
I was born in Colombia but spent the biggest part of my life in the French-speaking part of Switzerland with my adoptive Swiss parents. I was wholly educated in Switzerland and my native language became French. As far as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by learning foreign languages and travelling over the world.
I studied at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and I successfully graduated with a Bachelor in English and History, as well as a Master in English literature. I have been teaching English for quite some time, but I have recently decided to add my native French to my teaching kit. I'm planning to start studying for an official French teaching certificiation awarded by the highly recognised Alliance Française.
What interests me the most as a French teacher is to give my students a safe space where they feel they can learn French and interact with this beautiful language without fear of being harshly judged for their mistakes and difficulties.

My teaching methods are based on the use of various interactive methods aimed at encouraging students to practice and use French with ease and confidence.
My typical lesson plan consists of the following steps:
1. Greetings and interacting with the students with their daily life to break the ice and make them feel comfortable;
2. Introducing the topic/area of the day and assessing the student's skills and difficulties with this topic/area;
3. Interaction with the students using the resources: songs, online newspapers and articles, short videos excerpts , games, online tests, etc...;
4. Vocabulary/Grammatical/Comprehension focus time: Explanations to the students with a small task to be completed by the student and to be reviewed together
5. Closing up
What sets me apart as a tutor:
# I am a French native tutor who has extensively studied various foreign languages over the years (German, English, Spanish, Japanese...) and who is therefore VERY familiar with the difficulties and at times frustration that may come along when one is learning a foreign language.
# I am nearly fully trilingual: additionnally to French, have advanced levels in English (C1-C2) and Spanish (C1-C2)
# Open-minded, cosmopolitan and highly educated tutor, I have travelled and lived extensively in several countries (Switzerland, France, Ireland, England, Colombia) and I have always been fascinated to share and learn about various cultures and life experiences.
# Extensive availability in terms of available days and timeslot. I am currently residing in South America (Colombia) but I'm always trying to find a timeslot that suits both my student and myself. Available to work from Monday to Fridays (whole day), Saturdays (afternoons and nights) and sometimes on Sundays.
# Always aiming to improve my teaching skills, I am on the point of starting a French teaching course that wil allow me to receive, on successful completion, an official French certification delivered by the Alliance Française
