About Melania
I am a PhD student in Literacy Studies and Staff Development with approximately five years of experience in teaching and tutoring students across a variety of subjects. My academic and professional experiences have strengthened my passion for education, literacy, and effective instructional practices.
My long-term goal is to become a professor and teacher educator, where I can prepare future teachers to use evidence-based teaching practices that effectively support student learning and development. I am particularly interested in connecting research with classroom practice and helping educators understand how to apply research-based strategies in meaningful ways.
Throughout my teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked with students of different ages, abilities, and learning needs. I genuinely enjoy teaching and find it rewarding to help students build their knowledge, skills, and confidence. My approach combines my classroom experience with the research and knowledge I am developing through my doctoral studies, allowing me to provide instruction that is both engaging and grounded in evidence-based practices.

I teach English and literacy skills, helping students strengthen their speaking, reading, vocabulary, comprehension, and critical-thinking abilities. Whether you are learning English, improving your conversational skills, or developing beginning reading skills, I create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to your goals.
I am a first-grade teacher and doctoral candidate with strong experience teaching reading, literacy, and English. I have also tutored students from different backgrounds who wanted to improve their English speaking and communication skills. I use evidence-based teaching methods and adapt each lesson to the student's age, skill level, learning needs, and goals.
What sets me apart is my dedication to helping students build confidence while making meaningful progress. I believe learning should be enjoyable, encouraging, and connected to the student's interests. I enjoy getting to know my students and creating lessons where they feel comfortable practicing and growing.
My strongest experience is with PreK–5th grade, especially beginning reading, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and English development. However, I welcome students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you want to improve conversational English, become a stronger reader, expand your vocabulary, or develop critical-thinking skills, I would love to help you become a more confident and capable learner.
