About Anika
I have 10 years of teaching experience of English at KS3, GCSE and A Level. In this time, I have worked at two schools: one was a comprehensive where I worked for 4 years and now I work at my current media college where I specialise in GCSE teaching (6 years and still going strong). I have taught both Edexcel and AQA exams and have also marked AQA Language Paper 2 as a GCSE examiner.
Throughout my years, I have taught GCSE texts such as: An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Power and Conflict poetry and Love and Relationship poetry.
I have a passion for my subject which is why I continue in the education sector. In my 10 years, I have taught students with varying levels of ability - supported students moving from grade 3s to grade 4 passes and also supported those moving from a grade 6 to a 7 etc. My GCSE exam results speak for themselves: students in my top ability groups have achieved 7s, 8s and 9s across the board and those in my lower ability groups have challenged themselves to pass. Achieving the grade (whatever that may be) is about mindset, hard work, time and effort. I'm a firm believer that individuals will succeed if they are determined and resilient. Sometimes a class setting doesn't work for students because of absences, medical absences or other reasons and so they look for private tutoring. This is why I want to offer both.

I offer English Language and Literature tutor sessions at KS3 and GCSE level. I am confident in the delivery of the AQA and Edexcel exam boards (I have taught both at school). In the past 10 years, I have taught across the board at KS3, GCSE and A Level.
I believe that tutor lessons should be tailored to student needs which is something we figure out in the first couple of tutor sessions. The first session acts as a baseline where I plan action points based on the level/grade the student is working at. I will also liaise with students and guardians to ensure that any skill/question they want covered in the session, I meet that also.
I have tutored in the past as 1-1 and also in small group settings. I am currently switching to part time at school and hope to offer either/both 1-1 tutoring and small group tutoring (maximum of 8 students) at least twice a week. Each session will typically run for an hour and I will be flexible with the sessions I offer both in the week and weekend.
