About Isla
I am an experienced Engineering tutor with 12 years of teaching experience, working with high school and college students. Over the years, I have successfully guided around 250 students, helping them build a strong understanding of engineering concepts and achieve their academic goals.
My teaching philosophy is centered on clarity, understanding, and practical application. I focus on making complex topics like circuit design, power systems, control systems, thermodynamics, and applied mechanics simple and relatable. I believe that learning engineering is best achieved through problem-solving, hands-on examples, and connecting theory to real-world applications.
I adapt my lessons to each student’s pace and learning style, ensuring a flexible and supportive learning environment. I emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills, helping students tackle challenging problems with confidence. I also focus on exam preparation, assignments, and project work, guiding students to succeed academically and professionally.
Empathy and motivation are key aspects of my teaching. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths and challenges, providing encouragement and strategies to help them excel. I also ensure that all students feel respected and included, valuing diverse perspectives and learning styles.
My goal is not just to teach engineering but to help students develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and confidence that will benefit them in their studies and future careers. I take pride in seeing my students succeed and grow as independent thinkers and skilled engineers.

My teaching approach focuses on making engineering concepts clear, practical, and applicable for students at all levels. I cover a wide range of subjects including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering basics, circuit design, thermodynamics, power systems, and control systems. I also integrate applied mathematics, physics, and problem-solving techniques to help students understand real-world engineering challenges.
I emphasize motivation and encourage students to stay curious and engaged. Lessons are structured to gradually build confidence, starting with foundational concepts and progressing to advanced applications. I adapt my teaching to each student’s pace and learning style, ensuring a flexible and personalized experience. I use interactive examples, simulations, and hands-on exercises to make abstract ideas tangible.
Empathy is central to my teaching. I take time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals, providing guidance that is supportive and encouraging. I highlight common mistakes and misconceptions, helping students avoid pitfalls and develop efficient problem-solving strategies. Cultural sensitivity is also important; I respect diverse learning backgrounds and adjust my methods to ensure every student feels included and valued.
I focus on connecting theory with practical applications, helping students excel in exams, assignments, and project work. Regular practice, real-world examples, and step-by-step explanations reinforce understanding. My goal is to help students develop analytical thinking, creativity, and confidence in engineering, preparing them for academic success and professional growth.
Together, we work to build a strong foundation, solve challenging problems, and master engineering concepts with clarity and confidence.
