About Reid
Hello, I am an electrical engineering student completing a math minor at Montana State University with experience helping students of different ages and skill ranges. I have volunteered as a tutor at our local Math and Stats Center here on campus where I have helped college students work through difficult concepts of calculus I and II.
I have also volunteered with local Soft Landing Groups where I worked with high schoolers from different backgrounds. This experience has made me more flexible, encouraging, and clear when I explain difficult math concepts.
As your tutor, I'll focus more on the "why" of math. I will make math feel less intimidating by asking guiding questions so you can get that "ah ha!" moment. My goal is to help students build confidence to feel more prepared for class, homework, or exams.

I understand that math can be confusing. When you are missing one piece of the puzzle, the whole problem becomes confusing. I will try and create a comforting space where the student can ask questions. My goal is to help each student's problem-solving ability and improve their confidence in the classroom.
I will never give the student the answer flat out. Instead, I will ask guiding questions and use what they already know to build up to something they will actually remember. I will use real-life examples so the student can apply what they know.
