About Nathan
I have always held a deep love for learning, and hope to pass such a passion to the next generation. Learning should be an encouraging and fun experience regardless of education level! I have been tutoring in math and science consistently since my high school years informally teaching friends and family. After graduating from Rice University's rigorous mechanical engineering program, I am able to teach in all ranges of math and physics from elementary school to the AP level. Additionally, through my own self-study methods I was able to score a 1580 on the SAT on my first attempt. I believe I have a detailed understanding of college entrance exams - especially the SAT - and am confident in my ability to improve your scores.

My teaching style focuses on fundamental understanding rather than brute memorization. Mathematics and science build on itself, so it is important the students understand the basics before moving on to more complicated topics.
Additionally, my prior tutoring experience has shown me ample evidence of the importance of intrinsic motivation and willingness to learn for its own sake. I have made it a priority to be an encouraging tutor and one that makes the learning experience fun for the student, catered to each of their needs.
My tutoring focuses primarily on mathematics up to the AP Calculus BC level, and physics up to the AP Physics C level. I also offer SAT and ACT test preparation; my first-try score after using my own study methods was a 1580.
