About Brandon
Hi! I’m a DevOps engineer and systems administrator based in Utah, and math isn’t just something I teach — it’s something I rely on every day. In my professional work, I build and manage cloud infrastructure, automate complex systems, and solve technical problems where logical, step-by-step thinking is everything. That daily practice shapes how I tutor: I don’t just teach formulas, I teach students how to think through problems the way professionals do.
My approach to tutoring comes from years of breaking down complicated technical systems into clear, manageable pieces — a skill that translates directly to math instruction. I specialize in and tutor Algebra, Trig, Geometry, STEM, inorganic Chemistry, and Physics; working primarily with elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, I also specialize in tutoring non-traditional college students. I hold a BS in Health Services Admin, and I have 4+ years of experience helping students one-on-one. Whether a student is struggling to pass a class or pushing for a top test score, I meet them where they are and build a plan around their specific goals.
What sets me apart is sincere patience (nevertheless making the student uncomfortable or uneasy thinking they “should’ve caught on by now”), I am also very practical. I know what it feels like when a concept is just completely foreign and the harder you try the more foreign it becomes; reaching a point where the student gives up, never having that AHA! moment, and I take pride in finding the explanation — or the real-world example — that finally makes it land. My students don’t just get through their homework; they build the confidence and problem-solving habits that carry into every future math class, with skills and habits that translate well beyond math.

My lessons are built around one goal: making math actually make sense. As a DevOps engineer and systems administrator, I use math and logical problem-solving every single day — and I bring that same practical, step-by-step approach to every session.
What you can expect when we work together:
• Personalized sessions. We start by pinpointing exactly where you’re stuck, then build a plan around your goals — whether that’s passing a class, raising a grade, or prepping for the SAT/ACT.
• Step-by-step breakdowns. I don’t just show you the answer. I walk you through the why behind each step so you can solve similar problems on your own.
• Real-world context. I connect abstract concepts to how math is actually used in engineering, technology, and everyday life — because math sticks better when it means something.
• Practice with feedback. You’ll work through problems during our session with live guidance, and I’ll leave you with targeted practice so the progress continues between lessons.
• A judgment-free zone. No question is too basic. My job is to meet you where you are and build your confidence from there.
Logistics: I offer online sessions with flexible scheduling, including evenings. Your first lesson includes a free consultation so we can make sure we’re a good fit. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
