About Ellen
Primary school teacher of 6 years and a dedicated tutor with 4 years experience. I’m kind, friendly, encouraging and full of positive energy—my goal is always to make learning feel fun, not frustrating. Having had tutors myself throughout school, I understand first-hand how it feels to have someone new explain concepts that may already feel challenging. That personal experience shapes the way I teach—with empathy, patience, and creativity. I make it a priority to truly understand how each child learns best. From there, I design lessons that are tailored to their individual learning style, helping them grasp tricky topics in a way that feels clear and engaging. Whether it's through fun activities, visual aids, or step-by-step guidance, I go out of my way to ensure each learner feels supported, confident, and capable. I’m all about boosting confidence, encouraging effort, and making sure every child feels supported every step of the way!

I am an experienced English tutor, specialising in phonics, reading, writing, spelling, and grammar. I focus on teaching essential skills that help children build a strong foundation in the English language.
Lessons range from 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on each child's individual needs and abilities. I have experience working with children who have additional educational needs and always adapt my teaching approach to suit their unique learning styles.
In our first lesson, I take the time to get to know each child and understand how they learn best. From there, I create fully tailored learning materials designed to support their development and help them make real progress.
With over 4 years of tutoring experience and working with many children on a 1:1 as a teacher, I am passionate about helping children aged 5 to 15 gain confidence and achieve success in English.
