About Benedict
Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a third year undergraduate studying Geography at the University of Cambridge. I have plenty of experience tutoring and study buddying. Working repeatedly with seven students in the past year alone. I typically offer study-buddying sessions of six hours per day, working with students to prepare for upcoming examinations or assessments. I find these longer sessions allow much more scope for intellectual development and allow a more personal, and therefore inspiring, relationship between myself and the tutee. I am also happy to offer one-off or repeat short sessions either online or in person.
I can help with all GCSE subjects and with Geography, History and other essay-based humanities at IB and A-level.
At school I achieved 11A*s at GCSE and 45/45 in IB. However, I never believed that I was particularly academic and achieved far beyond my expectations, both at GCSE and in Sixth Form. I always felt alienated by the rigidity of school exams and often struggled to find the focus in my revision. My teaching style reflects this, and I like to focus on increasing the confidence of my students and encourage their broader intellectual progression. I am careful to not spoon-feed and prompt my tutees to think for themselves.
Outside of academia I enjoy music of all genres, art, drama and outdoor activities. I am eager to encourage all my students to find a positive work-play balance, and enjoy hearing about, and even joining in with, their favourite pastimes.
