About Delilah

I am a chemistry tutor with over 3 years of experience and an MSc in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry. My tutoring focuses on analytical chemistry, helping students understand both theory and practical applications of instrumentation. I guide learners through chromatography techniques such as HPLC, GC, and TLC, showing them how molecular properties affect separation. In spectroscopy, I teach students how to interpret UV–Vis, IR, and NMR data accurately, enabling them to connect theory with observation. I also specialise in titrations, emphasising endpoint determination, error minimisation, and proper technique. Experimental design is a key part of my sessions; students learn to develop hypotheses, plan experiments, and control variables effectively. I help students analyse data, draw meaningful conclusions, and evaluate sources of uncertainty. My experience includes working with chemistry lab students at university level, as well as learners preparing for careers in quality assurance or research. I provide step-by-step support for method validation, sample preparation, and laboratory documentation. I focus on making complex concepts approachable while strengthening practical skills. Students gain confidence in interpreting results and performing experiments independently. My approach balances theory, hands-on learning, and problem-solving exercises. I believe chemistry becomes exciting when students see the logic behind measurements and the precision of instruments. There is a special satisfaction in obtaining reliable data, and I enjoy sharing that joy with every student.

The teaching approach focuses on making biochemistry clear and applicable. Lessons cover macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, along with metabolic pathways and enzyme kinetics. Case studies provide real-life examples of chemical processes in cells and organisms. Students learn to analyse chemical reactions, predict outcomes, and understand molecular interactions. Structured sessions emphasise stepwise problem-solving and critical thinking. Zoologists and botanists benefit from tailored content that connects chemistry with their area of study. Analytical review sessions highlight gaps and strengthen understanding. Learners practise interpreting experimental data and enzyme kinetics. Feedback is personalised to support growth and academic excellence. Lessons combine theory, practical examples, and application exercises. Students develop confidence in evaluating pathways and understanding complex biochemical processes. The methodology ensures learning is structured, meaningful, and rewarding. Students refine their understanding of the chemical basis of life. By the end, learners achieve clarity, confidence, and mastery over biological chemistry concepts.
