Fancy brushing shoulders with the stars and the world's largest brands? Work experience is also offered to regular clients and is the key to the perfect job! High profile clients that I tutor are from countries such as Saudi Arabia, China and Russia. Travelling to these countries is a regular part of my job. However, I have been teaching art, fashion and textiles for 20 years.

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

Creativity runs through the generations in my family and we are all proud of our talents - a combination of seamstresses, lace makers, furniture & textile designers. My childhood was heavily influenced by the art and design worlds with my mother designing our clothes with my input which were then made by a dressmaker. Trained at Chelsea College of Art and The Royal College of Art. In a nutshell... All my life!
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

I am a huge fan of Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) the artists and designer of dreams. A whimsical place where craftsmanship meets design, he was a reliably mischievous player in the art and interior world! A prime example to fellow creative's that perseverance does pay off. I find that different moods provoke me to embrace different artists.

Noah Charney is an American writer and historian explores the stories, dramas and human intrigues surrounding the world's most famous forgeries - investigating the motivations of the artists and criminals who have faked great works of art, and in doing so conned the public and the art establishment alike. I am fascinated by the psychologic aspects, after one lecture at the V&A with Noah - I was hooked!

I believe it is so important to understand what you are worth... Be humble with your capabilities and reach for the stars!
  • What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

Fashion and textiles is an incredibly exciting field to be a part of. You will need the vital combination of hard work ethics, dedication, and perseverance to succeed. It is a competitive field to work in - but why would anyone want to take the easy option? See competition as being healthy.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Investigate a topic that you love... keep that morale up! Make sure you have the timeout to have fun and be with your friends. Laughter is the best medicine.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

I have gigantic energy for life and am so proud of the journey that I have traveled so far. Hindite is the most beautiful life lesson in life.

I have been fortunate to travel all over the world with my job, I believe that travel is the only thing that makes you richer. From admiring the 'worlds largest outdoor museum' in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to working with Scottish weavers in the Outer Hebrides. I am here to learn and to be the best person that I can be!
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I have been fortunate to work with many superstars, high profile families, and phenomenal fashion brands.

Being 'Head of the Wardrobe' for Balmain A/W 2018 collection was an excellent job to be offered. The Balmain team are like no other - they have intense devotion, speak persuasively and with ardor.

I also have worked on a regular basis with The Helen Bamber Foundation and Women's Aid supporting women that have been sex trafficked and suffered extreme hardship through art therapy classes and wardrobe banks for both women and children. Giving back to society is a huge part of my life. We all deserve to look and feel beautiful!
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Over the past 12 years being a 'Super Tutor' there have been many students I have been impressed by! I work with students for years, we build a strong working relationship and I continue to stay with them as a consultant basis on their professional design companies.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

I am a super-tutor - I always go above and beyond my job as a tutor. I work with my clients for years and always as a team player.
In fact, I am proud to be the 'longest-serving' fashion and textiles tutor on this educational platform - so my passion is gigantic. I believe in empowerment and teamwork - Together we can achieve anything you want too... The world is your Oyster - so grasp it with both hands and your heart.

If you can't be the sun, be a star; It isn't by size that you win or you fail. Be the best of whatever you are! Douglas Malloch
