About Lawrence
With 20+ years of Piano teaching experience, I work with school students, college students, and working professionals. I believe music education should combine strong fundamentals with creativity and practical experience.
My teaching approach starts with the learner. I first understand their current abilities, musical interests, goals, and challenges. I then design lessons that match their learning style and pace.
I teach piano fundamentals, finger coordination, scales, chords, rhythm, music theory, note reading, sight-reading, ear training, song learning, improvisation, and performance preparation. I combine technical exercises with practical songs so students can see how their skills are used.
My teaching philosophy is centered on patience, communication, accountability, and encouragement. I help students understand that progress takes time and that regular practice is more important than trying to achieve perfection immediately.
I encourage learners to communicate openly about difficult topics. If they struggle with a technique or piece, I break it down and use different exercises to help them understand.
I also teach effective practice routines and time management. Students learn how to set goals, organize their sessions, focus on challenging sections, and measure their progress.
A notable achievement in my teaching career is building 9 years of experience with students from school, college, and professional backgrounds. This has helped me develop a flexible and student-focused teaching style.
My aim is to help learners develop technical accuracy, musical understanding, creativity, confidence, and independence. Whether your goal is personal enjoyment, performance, or long-term musical development, I provide patient and personalized support.

My piano teaching methodology combines Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I aim to provide balanced lessons that develop piano technique, musical understanding, creativity, and confidence.
I begin by assessing the student's current skills and understanding their goals. I then create lessons that gradually develop posture, hand position, finger independence, note reading, rhythm, scales, chords, sight-reading, and musical expression.
I adapt my teaching methods according to each learner. Demonstrations, listening activities, written exercises, repetition, and practical playing help students understand musical ideas in different ways.
Flexibility allows me to adjust the pace and content according to individual progress. I understand that some students need more time with certain skills, while others are ready for greater challenges.
I encourage collaboration by involving students in song selection, goal setting, practice planning, and progress discussions. This helps them take greater responsibility for their learning.
I use positivity to keep students motivated. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, and I provide supportive feedback to help students improve.
Besides piano, I can teach music theory, keyboard skills, rhythm, chords, sight-reading, ear training, basic composition, and music appreciation. My goal is to create a balanced learning experience that helps students become confident and independent piano players.
