About Heather
My experience outside of the traditional classroom consists of teaching at a swim school for three years. Through this I have developed a strong, distinctive teaching style along with a solid foundation of classroom management that I employ in all of my classes. I have deep familiarity with the inner workings of teaching and following curriculum across various levels. For each level of instruction, I taught thirty-minute intervals in which I perfected my time management skills. I developed and honed my communication skills by meeting with parents at the conclusion of each class to discuss their learner’s progress. I have had the pleasure to work with a variety of learners including students who have learning disabilities or special needs, which gave me the opportunity to create additional exercises and modify the curriculum to fit their specific needs. I follow a similar guideline of instruction for my students in my tutoring sessions.
Additionally, I am a Senior in college pursuing my degree in Elementary Education. With three years of advanced, college leveled classes that built and refined my teaching skills, I am a skilled tutor. I have plenty of experience instructing and working one on one with students.

Together my students and I actively engage with books geared towards their interests, explore fascinating STEM activities while working through the scientific process. With online physical manipulatives for math and exciting board games that apply their mathematical knowledge, my students enjoy engaging with academic content. I have a variety of teaching methods that throughout tutoring, I work with my students to discover which method works best for them and employ that method throughout the tutoring session.
