About Jalen
I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Education in PreK-5 teaching. During my final stages of college, I spent most of my time educating 4th grade students. However, my career sits on a foundation of preschool teaching! I love working with all ages and am confident in my ability to build productive, nurturing, and supportive relationships with all children. I believe that every student is capable of learning and growing to reach their full potential. My mission is to contribute to their growth, and I've shown that I can do that through my work in classrooms. I am looking forward to new opportunities to work with students on exactly what they need!

During my tutoring sessions, it is all about my student's individual needs! We will start each lesson with an assessment to determine what skills need the most work, and how much the student has progressed. The core of the lesson will contain interactive teaching, with a focus on hands-on, game-based, and engaging activities. I believe that a combination of fun and meaning-making create the best learning! I will use what I know about the student to make it geared toward their interests and life to the best of my ability, which will contribute to this mission. Finally, I will provide my student with an opportunity to showcase what they learned and be set up for success next time. My goal is to build real-life skills through implementation of phonemic awareness, phonics, and meaning.
