About Yaira
Hello! My name is Yaira Shalom, and I’m a recent graduate with a BEng in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of York. With a deep love for mathematics and science, I’ve always been fascinated by how these subjects shape the world around us. I want to share this passion with my students, helping them not only understand these subjects but also enjoy them. Teaching allows me to inspire confidence and support students in reaching their full potential. I’m committed to making complex concepts accessible and ensuring that each student feels empowered to succeed.

take a student-centered approach, tailoring my teaching methods to each individual's learning style. My focus is on making complex mathematical and scientific concepts accessible through clear explanations, visual aids, and real-world examples. I encourage active problem-solving and regular practice to build confidence and ensure deep understanding.
Typically, my lessons last 60 to 90 minutes, allowing ample time to cover new material, review concepts, and address any questions. I adjust the length based on the student’s needs and the complexity of the topic.
Since November 2020, I've been tutoring Mathematics and Science both independently and through MyTutor. My students have seen an average grade improvement of 30%, with a 100% success rate in grammar school admissions. I bring a strong academic background and a proven track record of helping students achieve their goals.
My lessons are ideal for students aged 7-16, from Key Stage 2 through GCSE level, whether they’re preparing for exams, seeking to improve grades, or needing additional support. I work with students of all abilities, from those needing extra help to those aiming to excel.
