About Edward
As a vocal coach with a background in both performing and vocal science, I’m passionate about guiding singers toward discovering their most powerful and expressive voice. My teaching is based on a deep respect for vocal individuality and a commitment to functional technique. I work with students from all walks of life—some training for conservatory auditions, others exploring voice as a creative outlet—and I tailor each lesson to support their unique path. We focus on healthy breath engagement, clear tone production, balanced registration, and efficient vocal fold coordination. But just as important is artistry, which we cultivate through song interpretation, performance technique, and emotional expression. My approach weaves together the technical and the expressive to help students sing with both strength and meaning. We regularly use recording tools and playback critique to help students become more objective listeners and confident performers. I also integrate tools such as piano accompaniment, backing tracks, lyric analysis, and movement-based exercises to develop presence and stamina. Students are introduced to music theory, harmony, and rhythm to deepen their musicianship. We work in a range of genres including contemporary pop, musical theatre, classical crossover, indie, and jazz. I also mentor students in songwriting and original arrangement when desired. Many of my students have successfully auditioned for performing arts schools, released original music, or taken the stage in local and regional productions. But whether your dream is to sing in front of an audience or simply in your own living room with joy and freedom, I’m here to support your growth with encouragement, insight, and genuine care.

The voice is a reflection of one’s inner world and outer influences, a delicate but powerful instrument that evolves with time, care, and intention. My vocal pedagogy is grounded in Technical Precision, Emotional Intelligence, Cultural Awareness, and Mentorship. Technical precision is achieved through detailed work on breath management, registration balance, diction, and resonance tuning. Each student receives a personalised technical plan based on their vocal type, goals, and physical needs. Emotional intelligence is equally emphasised. I help students understand the emotional arc of their repertoire and develop the vulnerability required for honest, impactful performance. We use techniques from acting, meditation, and storytelling to access emotional depth without compromising vocal health. Cultural awareness shapes both the "how" and the "what" of our singing. We explore repertoire across cultures and languages, always contextualising the music historically and socially to encourage both stylistic authenticity and cultural sensitivity. As a mentor, I strive to meet students where they are. I guide them not only in their vocal progress but in navigating auditions, artistic identity, confidence-building, and long-term career planning if they choose a professional path. I believe in fostering resilience, flexibility, and curiosity in every singer. My teaching is ultimately about guiding students toward a deeper relationship with their voice—not just as a tool for performance, but as a lifelong companion for expression, reflection, and connection.
