About Leona
Hello! My name is Leona, and I'm a Chinese based in the UK. I'm a PhD student majoring in Education. For nearly a decade, I've taught university students Chinese reading and listening. At the same time, I enjoy teaching conversational Chinese to students from all around the world, and assisting them to reach new levels of fluency! From my own language learning experience as a student of English, I believe that conversational Chinese lessons with a native speaker are an intuitive and immersive way to advance fluency, while also offering the lovely opportunity of cultural exchange.

As a tutor and Chinese language instructor, my approach is student-centered and tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each student. In my tutoring sessions and Chinese classes, I use a variety of teaching methods and materials, including textbooks, multimedia resources, and authentic materials such as news articles, songs, and movies. When teaching Chinese, I prioritize the development of all language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I also emphasize the importance of developing good pronunciation and intonation, as these are crucial elements of effective communication in Chinese.
