My teaching method is have the students try themselves, I go in and correct and help them fix and better their mistakes.
I want my students to understand the why behind what they are doing. It seems my students do better if they understand the why behind what they are doing.
I also try to relate the topic to something they are familiar with; this gives them something that they understand and relate to.
