About Sierra
From the very beginning of my academic journey, I have held a passion for sharing my understanding of knowledge. I come from a family which values education but due to financial restrictions has not been afforded the opportunities to advance past a high school diploma. As the first person in my family with the offer to attend a four-year university, I took advantage of each chance to develop my academic strengths. I am currently studying to become a middle school English teacher and serve as a substitute teacher for the local school district when I have time.
In my free time, I enjoy portrait photography and pursuing journalistic interests. I have a strong background in the topics of Anthropology, Cultural exchange, human physiology, and ecological biology.

With over 10 years of experience tutoring students ranging from grades K-12 as well as at the undergraduate level, what I've learned is that effective tutoring helps students develop strong problem solving skills while growing their knowledge in a particular subject.
I am offering English reading and writing lessons for grades k-12.
At the undergraduate level and above, I can offer revising and editing services to receive in-depth feedback and analysis of what the reader gains from your text.
To get you nearer to mastery, I will provide a learning atmosphere where you will be pushed to think for yourself without leaving you out to dry. First, we will breakdown the prompt, question, or lesson in to easy to understand chunks. From there, I will aid the student in coming up with a roadmap for tackling the obstacles. Depending on your student's need for support, I will create a personalized, adaptable, and highly individualized lesson plan to achieve success.

Sierra volunteered as a tutor in the community library for over 10 years as the main or sole tutor at times. She saw energetic students as excited, nurturing their natural curiosity. She saw sleepy students as underestimated or in-need of rest and would encourage them to do relaxing, brain-stimulating activities such as reading rather than play computer games.
I highly recommend Sierra as a tutor. She explains concepts in multiple ways until it makes sense to me. Whenever I am confused, she notices immediately and accommodates the pace of the lesson to what I need the most help with.
