About Simran
Hi, I'm Simran, a second-year Economics student at the University of Leicester, currently on track for a 2:1 with a 1st in all mathematics modules. I have achieved a Grade 8 in both Higher and Further Mathematics GCSE. I offer one-to-one online Maths tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students across the UK.
I started tutoring because I genuinely enjoy making maths feel manageable. I remember what it is like to sit in a lesson and feel like everyone else understands something you don't. That quiet frustration is exactly what I aim to remove. My sessions are patient, structured, and always adapted to the individual student. There is no such thing as a silly question in my lessons.
Alongside my degree, I compete in Model United Nations, which has sharpened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently. This is a skill I bring directly into my teaching. I approach tutoring the same way I approach my own studies: with discipline, preparation, and a genuine commitment to getting results.
I have been tutoring independently for over a year and take my students' progress seriously. Before our first session, I carry out a short diagnostic to understand exactly where each student is, so we are never wasting time. From there, every lesson is purposeful, built around their syllabus, their exam board, and their goals.
Whether your child is looking to build their foundations, close specific gaps, or push from a good grade to a great one, I will give them the focused attention and clarity they need to get there.

MY APPROACH
I don't believe in just walking students through worked examples and hoping it sticks. My sessions are built around understanding — I ask questions, identify exactly where the confusion is, and work backwards from there. Each lesson is structured but flexible: we'll typically recap the previous topic, tackle new material through guided practice, and finish with independent questions so students leave feeling genuinely confident rather than just passively taught.
TECHNIQUES AND METHODOLOGY
I tailor every session to the individual. For students who are behind or anxious about maths, I slow right down and rebuild foundations without any judgement. For students targeting top grades, I focus on exam technique, mark scheme logic, and tackling the harder question types that separate a B from an A. I use past paper questions throughout — not just at the end of a topic — because exam-style practice is the fastest route to real improvement.
LESSON LENGTH
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, which is long enough to make real progress without losing focus. For students with upcoming exams or specific topics to cover quickly, 90-minute sessions are also available on request.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
I am a second-year Economics undergraduate at the University of Leicester, currently on track for a 2:1, achieving a 1st in all mathematics modules. I achieved an 8 in Higher Mathematics and 8 in Further Mathematics GCSE. I have experience tutoring students independently on a self-employed basis. Outside of academics, I compete in Taekwondo at 3rd Kup level and represent my university in Model United Nations — both of which have sharpened the kind of structured, disciplined thinking I bring into my teaching.
