About John
I am a new tutor with a bachelor's degree in economics now taking graduate economics courses with Purdue and pursuing the Ph.D. program in economics at George Mason University. I have tutored a few students at Indiana Wesleyan University in economics and have worked for many years with people as a restaurant server, including training new servers in skills and concepts, which I hope to translate over into economics tutoring.

As far as my methodology, I find that the best way for students or anyone to learn something new is to explain the idea or principle with concrete examples and through a story that makes the idea intelligible and relatable. Before beginning any lessons, especially with a subject like economics, I find it is important to review or introduce some "economics vocabulary" so that when I use certain economics terms the student understands what I mean. In lessons themselves, I tend to start with concrete economic problems and questions and gradually abstract away from these concrete situations and questions until a student reaches a general understanding of the economics topic in question.
