About Rory
I am a Classics PhD student with an MA and BA through Durham University. My major focus is Palmyra in Roman Syria. I am flexible with experience in French, have lived abroad in Spain and Belgium and can tutor across the arts and humanities.

My previous experience is in giving lessons to degree standard beginners Latin and English language tuition to candidates for B1/B2 standard. I like to keep classes fairly casual and conversational relying on the involvement of the pupil, while always keeping in sight their end goals. We only get there if we go together.

Rory taught me ancient History throughout university and became a great friend. His subject knowledge, pedagogical style and erudition are impeccable. As a testament to his command of the subject I recall Rory finishing his degree with the best dissertation in the whole Durham classics cohort for his year! I was delighted to hear he'd been awarded a phd too and worked at the European Parliament for 6 months in Brussels.
