• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I had a keen interest in teaching from an early age. I used to teach my friends and classmates if they had any doubts. Then during my Btech, I developed a keen interest in computer science. I started programming and understood the core computer science subject even more. I started helping my friends with lab assignments and clearing their doubts. And then while I was preparing for the GATE exam I used to teach my friends as preparing for GATE gave me more insight into subjects. While doing my Mtech I was TA for OS and C . So I got some 20 to 30 students under me. I had to take their demo and assist them with their assignment and course-related queries. During this TA program, I developed a more comprehensive way to explain concepts and started focusing on teaching intuition rather than just the theory part. Then I got to know about superprof from one of my friends and I started taking classes and taught various types of students. I explain concepts by giving easy examples. I help students build confidence to solve any problem. I teach them from very basic so that they are able to understand more complex concepts well.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  There is a neighbour of mine who used to teach physics and maths. He is very passionate about teaching. So when I took classes from him, I developed an interest in teaching and he also motivated me to help other students and teach subjects so that I can gain more understanding of subjects. Then during my Gate preparation, I met a prof. I was impressed by his teaching skills, Concepts which I found difficult, he made them simple and easy to understand. I had some experience in teaching earlier but when I saw his teaching style, I was motivated to develop such skills in myself so that I could explain concepts to others. I am a Software Engineer now but I want to start something of my own in the teaching field and Superprof is one of the first steps.

• How does your work help society?

  I have personal experience of how a good teacher can change your life. This work is very crucial for the development of any society. A teacher not only teaches subjects but also helps in overall development. I had good teachers because of which I like to study. Students need a good tutor which helps them in gaining confidence and that they can be ready for life. So teacher's work has a great impact on society, their work impacts future generations. My whole life changed just because I had a good teacher.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  I mentioned earlier about a prof during my GATE preparation, I consider him my role model for teaching. I also used to watch many YouTube videos so there are some channels like Gate Knowledge, Gate Smashers and Ravindra Babu. Their teaching style is very accurate and to the point which helped me revise the subject in a short time. And since my Btech college did not have very good teachers, so I know the importance of a good teacher and what impact they can make. So I consider my Gate prof and teacher on YouTube as my role model and I try to teach using their methodology.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Apart from teaching, I like to play Badminton and Cricket. I also go swimming and gym. I also like to go on walk in early morning. I also like to travel during my free time and visit new places.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  There was a student who was new to DSA and when we started he used to take a lot of time to learn new concepts. I had to mostly extend his classes to make him understand. But with time I realised he was learning at a good pace. If I pointed out a mistake he would not repeat it again. And I was impressed by his dedication and hard work. And with time he was able to solve problems and do his assignments which made me feel good.
