About Ted
Ted Cameron is a sound technician, classical musician, and composer/arranger based in Montreal. With a career rooted in both artistry and technical expertise, he bridges the worlds of performance and sound with precision and creativity. Ted is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Sound Recording at McGill University. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Specialization in Music Performance (Oboe) from Concordia University (Class of 2025), and an ACS in Audio Recording Technology from Vanier College, where he graduated in 2018. Since then, he has worked extensively with classical ensembles, solo artists, and theatre groups—as well as artists from a range of other genres—across Montreal, building a reputation as a thoughtful and reliable collaborator behind the console.
As a performer, Ted plays oboe, English horn, and bassoon. He has performed with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Sinfonia de l’Ouest, and is a founding member of a professional oboe trio based in the West Island. His musical training includes studies with Joelle Amar, Stewart Grant, and Lindsay Roberts. Ted is also deeply committed to community music and youth development. A longtime member and now Vice President of the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra, he plays an active role in its administration, artistic planning, and outreach. His behind-the-scenes leadership helps sustain one of the most vibrant youth orchestras in Quebec, while his front-line presence as an educator empowers the next generation of musicians. He teaches oboe and bassoon at l'École secondaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes and St-Thomas High School, and maintains a thriving private studio. He also leads double reed clinics for schools and ensembles across the Montreal region.

Reed Making
Are you tired of struggling to make reeds? Or are you tired of buying all kinds of mass-produced reeds that just end up in the trash? After spending many years making reeds, learning different techniques, taking lessons with different teachers, and reading countless books, I have developed my own approach to reed making. My approach is hassle free, easy to understand, and will have you making your own reeds in no time.
Recital
Every year I put together a recital in the West Island of Montreal for my local students that are interested in participating! It gives everyone an opportunity to perform in a low-stress environment for their peers. Every performer receives an audio and video recording of their performance, and we hold a potluck after the recital for everyone to mingle!

For the last year, Ted has been teaching the oboe to my son, who looks forward to every lesson. Ted is super friendly, always prepared, and very flexible. He helps my son perfect his school concert music and also provides custom music based on my son's interests.
We've been to local concerts and music events together as Ted is involved in the local music community. He's an amazing teacher and friend and we are lucky to have him!Ted has been teaching our son (12yo) for a year now and his progression has been great. Every lesson he's teaching something new or strengthening on something that needs more practice. He definitely knows his techniques and what works, and is always very pleasant. He went out of his way to find my son material to keep him interested and wanting to practice (such as sheet music for a theme song of a game he loves playing). Ted is very personable and I believe he's a great teacher for adults and kids alike.
