About Michael
I am currently a Doctoral student at the University at Buffalo studying medical image analysis and radiation therapy physics. I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics from the University of Washington, and a Masters of science degree in medical science. I have academic presentstions and manuscripts in cancer biology and cancer therapy. I have experience teaching in both tutoring and academic settings. I was a physics and mathematics tutor in high school. I have taught cancer biology, imaging, and veterinary research techniques to graduate and undergraduate students. I was also an assistant video coordinator for the University of Washington Football team for 5 seasons. I have further coaching experience in youth and high school basketball. Outside of my academic and professional career, I'm an avid sports, aviation, and star wars fan.

My teaching method is based off of the goals and interests of the student. Then using methods to achieve higher orders of learning, the student and I develop a plan to accomplish those goals. I develop and organize learning materials so the student will not only learn the material but be able to apply it and retain it. Prior to lessons i will give students a small amount or reading material to be further examined in lessons. Lessons typically start with a short quiz on material to be covered. These are then followed by flipped-classroom style tutorials in which walk students through practical application of the material. After the lesson, quiz answers are again revisited and any questions student have are addressed.
