About Beth
Hi, I’m a 26-year-old writer and academic based in Liverpool, with a passion for helping students bring clarity, confidence, and structure to their ideas. I hold a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Edge Hill University, as well as a Master’s degree in History and Modern Culture. I also spent 10 years living and studying in France, where I completed a Baccalaureate in Literature, Philosophy, and Art. Alongside tutoring, I’ve self-published a book and was a judge for the prestigious Edge Hill Prize for short stories — an experience that deepened my appreciation for strong, clear writing and nuanced argumentation. I know how daunting academic writing can feel, especially when you’re facing a large project like a dissertation. My goal is to make that process less overwhelming and more empowering — helping you organise your thoughts, sharpen your analysis, and express your research in a clear and confident voice. Whether you’re writing in English as a second language, returning to university as a mature student, or simply stuck in the middle of your thesis, I’m here to guide you with patience, insight, and a strong academic foundation.

My lessons are designed to support students at any level, including undergraduate and postgraduate, with all stages of academic writing — from developing a research question to refining arguments, editing, and final formatting. I take a calm, clear, and structured approach, always tailored to your subject area, institution requirements, and writing style. Whether you're stuck on structure, unsure how to integrate secondary sources, or overwhelmed by the scope of your project, I offer focused, supportive guidance to help you move forward with confidence. A typical session lasts 1 hour, but I’m flexible depending on the stage you’re at and the level of support you need. I can also provide written feedback between sessions if required. With a Master’s in History and Modern Culture, a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, and experience judging academic and creative work (including for the Edge Hill Short Story Prize), I bring both analytical insight and a writer’s eye to your work. I’ve supported students in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, including international students and those returning to study. I offer help with: - Planning and structuring your dissertation or thesis - Refining your research question and arguments - Academic writing, referencing, and clarity - Literature reviews and source integration - Proofreading and critical feedback Whether you're writing your first university essay or preparing a postgraduate dissertation, I'm here to guide you through the process with encouragement, care, and academic rigour.
