About Sophie
Hello and welcome! I’m Sophie and I’m passionate about helping students see how wonderfully connected the living world really is! I am based in San Diego, California, and I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a concentration in Molecular Biology! I have 10 years of tutoring experience helping K-12 learners understand Biology in a clear and engaging way! My academic preparation includes Cellular Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Biotechnology, and human biology! During university, I participated in research-oriented academic projects that strengthened my interest in connecting laboratory discoveries with everyday life! I have helped students prepare science-fair projects, research assignments, school examinations, laboratory reports, and advanced Biology coursework! I especially enjoy using diagrams and visual models because students can often understand a difficult process much more easily once they can see what is happening step by step! I also encourage learners to connect Biology with medicine, nutrition, environmental science, genetics, and biotechnology! My teaching style is warm, calm, and conversational, and I always make space for questions and curiosity!

Welcome to my Biology lessons! I design personalized sessions for Junior School, Middle School, High School, and early College students, adapting every lesson to their current knowledge, school syllabus, learning pace, and future goals! Younger learners can explore animals, plants, habitats, food chains, basic cells, nutrition, and the human body through pictures, models, simple observations, and interactive questions! Middle School students can develop stronger understanding of cell structure, reproduction, heredity, microorganisms, ecosystems, and human health while building accurate scientific vocabulary! High School learners can study Cellular Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Biotechnology with greater depth and examination-level detail! I use family-trait examples to introduce Genetics, exercise and sports to explain Physiology, fermentation to discuss microorganisms, and modern genetic technologies to demonstrate Biotechnology! Every student receives a personalized learning pathway that includes concept learning, revision, assignment support, and examination preparation! I help learners with assignments and projects by teaching them how to organize research, interpret diagrams, explain biological processes, create presentations, and draw evidence-based conclusions! Exam preparation includes active recall, diagram labeling, case studies, application questions, data interpretation, and timed practice! I regularly ask students to explain concepts in their own words because this helps reveal misunderstandings that simple memorization can hide! Progress is tracked across major topics so students can clearly see their development! I want learners to finish each session feeling more curious about life science and more confident in their ability to understand it!
