About Boris
I obtained the highest diploma at ENMP in France. I performed around the world from Japan to USA as a soloist and chamber musician, but I also played in orchestras (touring China with Berliner Symphoniker on few occasions). I am also the sound engineer and videographer at Hedone records, which influenced my development as a sound artist and editor. You are welcome to view my YouTube channel where I have posted videos of my recordings and live performances.

My main teaching is explaining both verbally and demonstratively how the phrases are formed in music, which is very similar to grammar in language, but is almost a forgotten knowledge. Firstly I ask a student to find smaller group of notes, which he believes form the smallest musical idea i.e. word. Similar to learning foreign language, where at first we don't distinguish the words, but just hear some random sounds and only by listening for longer periods we start distinguishing them. From there I explain how these musical "words" form a musical sentence, a phrase. The typical sentence/phrase is made out of three "words", but of course there are many exceptions. This makes music making much more interesting for both the performer and the audience. It doesn't mean that everybody will play the same way, but will play most understandable with their own choice of characters. Some of my ideological points: MAJOR ELEMENT OF MUSIC MAKING - MEANING OF MUSIC -RHETORIC. Individual notes form words - always find small group of notes that can be understood as one word. From there it's similar to a language grammar. Tone mapping - overtones. Each tone is formed as a base tone plus its overtones. Overtones have to be aligned to the base tone in order to be properly in tune with "itself". Lower back breathing. Sit down and lean forward putting your hands between your legs to breathe the air in, feeling the low back expanding. The throat is the centre of focus - every sound is created/felt there first and then sent to both directions - up and down - up lips and down lungs/diaphragm. At the beginning it feels weak, especially in the low register, but as you progress you will create power that cannot be matched by lip squeezing only (which often leads to throat squeezing/shutting as well).
