About Sophie
I am dedicated to making project management accessible and practical for beginners like you. My mission is to move you from confusion to confidence, giving you the skills to successfully lead a project or tasks from start to finish. I bring 5 years of hands-on experience managing complex projects within nonprofits by applying both Waterfall and Agile methodologies in real-world scenarios. By the end of this lesson, you will possess the practical Agile mindset and foundational planning tools to confidently step into any project role. You'll be ready to lead a daily "stand-up" meeting, prioritize a critical campaign backlog, and ensure your team stays focused on mission-driven results!

Launch your early career with essential project management skills needed in today's fast-paced nonprofit world.
This lesson moves beyond textbook theory to focus on the methods modern organizations actually use: Agile and Scrum. You won't just learn what to do; you'll learn how to manage rapid-response campaign for instance!
My teaching methodology is built on a foundation of real-world relevance and immediate application. You won't waste time on features you'll never use.
Tools and programs I teach:
- Project & Task Management Tools: Asana, AirTable, Notion, Trello, Miro, Monday.com, Excel / Google Sheets
- Data & Spreadsheet Mastery: Excel/Google Sheets Functions, Pivot Tables, ParseHub (data collecting)
- Event & Mobilization Tech: Mobilize, EveryAction (Source Codes), Zoom Host Controls
- Professional Communications: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Calendly, Doodles.com
- Presentation & Engagement: Canva with Mentimeter
- Website & Social Media: WordPress, Squarespace, Sprout Social
- Customer/User Feedback/Sign-Up Asks: Google Forms, SurveyMonkey
- CRM & Support: FreshWorks
My Teaching Method and Techniques:
If you are solely interested in developing project management skills, the beginner lesson will teach you practical planning tools and essential project language using the 5-step project lifecycle, so you can confidently contribute from day one.
My philosophy is "Learn by Doing, Master by Applying." I use a coaching-style approach where I guide you through a practical challenge, rather than lecturing with slides.
- Scenario-Based Learning: Every function and tool is taught within the context of a common professional problem (e.g., "How do I consolidate attendee lists from three events?" or "How do I build a project roadmap that updates in real-time?").
- The "Why" Before the "How": We always begin by understanding the purpose of the tool/function before diving into the clicks. This builds a deeper, transferable knowledge base.
- Workflow Integration: I specialize in showing you how these tools talk to each other, maximizing efficiency across your entire organization's tech stack. This includes sharing my personal tips and tricks to save you clicks and time.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
A standard 60–120 minute session is focused, practical, and highly engaging:
- The Challenge (5 min): Define the specific, real-world professional problem we are solving today.
- Tool Mastery (25–60 min): Step-by-step, hands-on demonstration and practice of the essential functions needed. This includes all the tips and tricks I've learned in the field.
- Application & Customization (20–35 min): We apply the new skills to a template or, ideally, your own work file. We'll tailor the solution to fit your unique professional needs.
- Integration & Next Steps (5–10 min): Discuss how this new skill integrates with your other tools and define a small, specific action for you to practice before the next session.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
I offer professional-grade mentorship, not just generic tech support.
- Organizational Context: My professional background means I understand the high-pressure, resource-scarce environments of campaigns and program management. I teach the shortcuts that save you time when it matters most.
- The "Hidden Bridges": Most people use tools in isolation. I show you the powerful, often-overlooked methods to connect programs—such as using an Airtable base to populate a Mailchimp campaign or linking survey results to a project board.
- A Proven Track Record: I don't rely on theory; I teach proven methods that I've successfully implemented for multiple organizations to dramatically improve their efficiency.
Who These Lessons Are For:
These lessons are for anyone ready to become a confident, efficient power-user of their professional tools.
- Absolute Beginners: Just opened the program? We'll get you oriented, using, and building within the first session.
- Intermediate Users: Know the basics but want to be faster, more efficient, and master advanced functions like Pivot Tables and complex project automation.
- Students/Interns: Preparing for your first job? Build a robust, job-ready tech skillset that hiring managers are actively looking for.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Your learning journey is fully customized. The content and pace of our instruction can be tailored based on your specific career goals in the advocacy sector.
First Lesson is Free: Your initial session is a complimentary Introductory Consultation. The goal is for us to get to know each other, understand your background/experience, and collaboratively plan out your future lessons based on your unique needs.
No Obligation: If, after the introductory lesson, you feel we are not a good match for any reason, there is absolutely no worry or obligation to continue.
Standard Rate: If you are happy with the learning plan we create together, all subsequent project management lessons will be billed at a simple rate of $15 per hour.
