About Margaret
Hi! My name is Margaret. I hold a BFA from a top 15 nationally ranked U.S. university and a dual Master of Architecture / Master of Landscape Architecture from a U.S. Ivy League institution. I recently completed a year-long U.S. Fulbright Student Scholarship, am a registered landscape architect, and am working toward my architecture licensure as well (AXP completed). I achieved a perfect score (6/6) on the GRE analytical writing section.
My own degrees kept expanding in scale — from object to building to landscape — which is why I understand design education across disciplines and levels. Working, studying, and teaching across these fields for 15+ years has taught me what reviewers actually value in a portfolio, application, and essay — whether you are applying to graduate school, a fellowship, or a grant program.
As someone who has navigated non-linear paths through design education and practice, I help students draw on their existing strengths so their full potential shines through — whether the goal is coursework, portfolio development, or a competitive application.

I work with designers, architects, and landscape architects applying to graduate programs and grants — including Fulbright — as well as students seeking support with design coursework and early career professionals strengthening their portfolios. I also help with personal statements and application essays for design and architecture programs — and offer a separate session for GRE analytical writing and general graduate school essays.
Sessions generally follow a two-step structure. The first session runs 45 minutes — we review your current materials together and identify what needs to change and why. From there, you implement the revisions yourself. Follow-up sessions range from 30 to 90 minutes depending on where you are in the process, focused on reviewing your revised materials and refining until the application or portfolio is complete. I provide feedback and edits throughout, but the content and voice remain yours.
I work most often with students applying to MFA, MLA, M.Arch, and related graduate programs — including prospective designers coming from other fields. All levels and backgrounds are welcome — including career changers and international applicants working in English.
I have mentored students at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels — through office mentorship in NYC, LA, and Boston, university teaching and guest lectures across both coasts and in Seoul, and one on one sessions.
