About Mateen
Hi, I’m Mateen! I’m a dentistry student and a dedicated tutor specialising in GCSE and A-level subjects including Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, English, and Psychology.
I’ve always been passionate about learning and understanding how things work, especially in science and psychology. What made me want to teach is seeing how much confidence can grow once something finally “clicks.” I know how frustrating it can feel when a topic doesn’t make sense at first — I’ve been there myself — and that’s exactly why I enjoy helping students break things down step by step until they truly understand it.
I don’t just want my students to memorise content; I want them to feel confident walking into exams knowing they understand the material and how to apply it. Seeing students improve their grades, develop belief in themselves, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach is what motivates me most.
My aim is to create a supportive, focused environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and pushing yourself to improve.

My lessons are structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I usually begin with a short recap of previous content to check understanding and identify any gaps. From there, I introduce the key topic for the session, explaining concepts clearly and breaking them down into manageable steps.
I use a mix of guided practice, exam-style questions, and active recall to reinforce learning. For GCSE and A-level students, I place strong emphasis on exam technique, mark schemes, and understanding how to structure high-mark answers to maximise grades. I regularly assess progress through mini quizzes and timed questions to build confidence and improve performance under pressure.
I adapt my teaching style depending on the student — whether they need more visual explanations, step-by-step modelling, or challenge questions to push for top grades. My goal is not just to help students understand
