About Mona
I am a dedicated and passionate English tutor from Egypt with a B2 level of proficiency in the English language. I hold a degree in English literature and a diploma in Translation with 14 years of professional experience in teaching English as a second language to different learners, with great focus nowadays on beginners and primary students. Due to my extensive experience, I always create a supportive and friendly learning environment for my students to assist them in learning easily. I focus on building my students' confidence to overcome any obstacles during their educational journey. With my 14 years of professional experience and freelancing work in education, I have developed techniques to assist my students in achieving their goals. I depend mainly on elicitation and an interactive approach to involve my students in the learning process through discussions and graded questions. I provide them with continuous assessments and quizzes to track their progress and locate their weaknesses. I am supportive of my students as I familiarize myself with the nature of learning, which includes making mistakes. My typical lesson plan is to start with elicitation by providing them with images to introduce our new topic. We make some short discussion about the topic. In step 2, I present my topic in a more organized way for clear understanding. I check their understanding by concept questions and yes or no questions. In Step 3 or the guided practice, I provide some graded questions for practice. Then, I give more comments about the answers. In Step 4, I present some freer practice on the same topic and I expect the student to use their creativity. Then, I give my feedback and focus on the points of strengths first and I give them more examples for the mistakes. Finally, I give an appropriate assignment to allow more time for practicing the same idea.
