About Seun
Hello! I'm an experienced and passionate English tutor with over 25 years in secondary education. I specialise in GCSE and A-level English Literature and Language, helping students of all abilities unlock the power of language, literature, and confident communication.
With postgraduate degrees in both English and Psychology, and specialist training in CBT, DBT, and emotional wellbeing, I bring a unique approach that not only builds academic success but also fosters resilience, motivation, and self-belief.
I've worked extensively with high-achieving students aiming for top grades, as well as those on the grade 3/4 or D/C borderline—guiding each learner with patience, structure, and practical tools tailored to their needs.
If your child is home-educated, in school, or just needs a fresh approach, I offer supportive, engaging sessions that truly connect.

About the Lessons
My approach is built on one key belief: students thrive when they’re taught in a way that connects with how they think, not just what they need to know. I bring together over two decades of English teaching experience with insights from psychology to offer lessons that are practical, engaging, and genuinely student-focused.
My Methodology
I use targeted frameworks that simplify complex ideas and give students powerful tools to succeed:
PACCT – for Literature, Fiction Reading & Creative Writing
(Plot, Atmosphere, Characters, Context, Themes)
This helps students unlock meaning in texts, build sophisticated interpretations, and organise their ideas clearly in essays or creative work.
PAFT – for Non-Fiction Reading & Writing
(Purpose, Audience, Format, Tone)
Students learn to understand the writer’s intention and craft purposeful, well-structured non-fiction pieces of their own—from persuasive writing to formal letters and speeches.
SASS – for Poetry
(Subject, Atmosphere, Style/Structure)
Poetry can be daunting, but this simple method equips students to respond thoughtfully and confidently—even to unseen poems—by guiding them toward clarity and precision.
These frameworks help students stop guessing and start reading like writers and writing like thinkers. They support learners at every level, whether you’re aiming to secure a pass or push for the top grade.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
Each session follows a clear, supportive structure:
Check-In & Review (5–10 mins)
A quick recap of previous learning and a space to raise questions or difficulties—especially helpful for anxious or unsure students.
Core Focus (30–35 mins)
We explore a key skill or area—like analysing Lady Macbeth through the lens of PACCT, breaking down a persuasive article with PAFT, or tackling a challenging unseen poem with SASS. I model high-level responses and provide scaffolded support.
Practice & Application (15–20 mins)
Students apply what they've learned through short tasks, exam-style questions, or shared writing. I give focused, supportive feedback with clear next steps.
Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 mins)
We reflect on what’s been achieved and outline how to reinforce the learning through a short optional task or reading.
What You Need to Know
I tailor lessons to your specific exam board (AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, OCR).
All lessons are online, using interactive tools like live annotation and screen sharing to keep learning dynamic and clear.
I provide structured resources, practice papers, revision guides, and optional tasks to support learning between sessions.
I’m happy to communicate with parents/carers about progress, and can align with school targets or SEND needs.
I include emotional check-ins when needed—helping students build confidence and manage stress around learning or exams.
I don’t just help students pass English—I help them connect with it. My aim is to make each learner feel seen, supported, and ready to succeed, in class, in exams, and beyond.

What’s Included in the Lesson Fee?
When you book a lesson with me, you’re not just paying for time—you’re investing in a learning relationship that’s built on trust, consistency, and high expectations.
I place a strong emphasis on getting to know each student as an individual—their interests, their confidence levels, their preferred ways of learning. This connection allows me to challenge them appropriately, celebrate their progress, and keep them motivated even when things feel tough.
A Personalised Approach to Progress
I create a positive, respectful learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and try again.
I hold students to high but realistic expectations, always pushing them to reach their potential without overwhelming them.
I regularly give constructive, encouraging feedback to help students take ownership of their progress.
Support Beyond the Hour
I invest time outside of lessons to reflect on progress and plan our next steps, so every session is focused and purposeful.
I offer brief progress updates or check-ins with parents/carers when needed—because partnership matters.
For students preparing for exams, I help build not just skills, but the confidence and resilience to perform under pressure.
What You’re Not Paying Extra For
There are no extra charges for quick support between sessions (e.g. clarifying homework, sharing reminders, or giving quick feedback).
There are no hidden admin fees, and I offer flexible rescheduling where possible for illness or emergencies.
