About Mariam
I have been tutoring for 6 years. I am extremely passionate about academia and wish to elevate students in their studies with my help and guidance. My passion for English has carried through into higher education and I wish to pursue it to the highest level. I have worked with a variety of students from varying skill backgrounds and ages. I also have experience teaching students with ADHD and autism - each student I have has great potential I wish to help them realise. I am a firm believer in each student's personal potential and successes in terms of their education and future. I understand that each student is an individual with their own strengths and weaknesses and tailor lessons and teaching styles to what suits them best. As a student of Literature myself, I recognise the different skills required at different learning levels for English and enjoy tailoring lessons and recommendations to each student.

Primarily, I teach 11+ and GCSE students. I bring in-depth knowledge and exam board-specific teaching to my lessons. My lessons are easily adaptable to suit the student's style of learning whether that be intensive practice for one lesson and deep dives into content for another - it all depends on what works best for the student to produce the best results! After all lessons, students are provided with notes/slides, homework and any additional resources I recommend. Rapport is extremely important for me when it comes to teaching. Therefore, I emphasise open communication between me and students so I can better understand what works for them and affirm my role as a supportive tutor. Students are free to ask for further reading or general advice regarding university, GCSE, A-levels etc. outside of lesson time if they wish to. I have specific knowledge of AQA and Edexcel exam boards allowing students to have an edge in their exam performance. Subjects I teach: SATs 11+ non-verbal, verbal, maths, English GCSE maths, English literature, English language, triple science/single science (physics, chemistry, biology) A-level Physics, English Literature, Politics (AQA)

Mariam has been tutoring my daughter since Year 6. Over the last two years she's shown herself to be outstanding.
