I approach tutoring as a custom-made session. I listen to my students, learn about their learning styles, and tailor lessons to meet their needs. My goal is to instill the love of learning a foreign language, and to help them achieve what they want.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak French fluently because of my origins. Growing up in Algeria, a country where French has a significant historical and cultural presence, it was a natural part of my education and daily life. It has always been a bridge between Algerian and French culture.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

I would choose Albert Camus, the French-Algerian philosopher and writer. He is a symbol of the complex relationship between France and Algeria, and his works reflect universal human experiences. His novel, "L'Étranger" is a classic of French literature and represents the depth of the French language.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

One phrase I really appreciate is "c'est la vie," which reflects a philosophy of accepting life as it comes. It's simple but powerful, capturing the French way of viewing both the beauty and challenges of life with a certain grace.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking French matters to me because it connects me to multiple cultures: Algerian, French, and the broader Francophone world. It allows me to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and to access literature, music, and history that have shaped both my identity and the world around me.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The main difficulty for learners is often mastering French grammar, particularly verb conjugations and gendered nouns. However, immersion through conversation, media, and regular practice can greatly help in overcoming these challenges. Consistency and patience are key!
  • Could you share a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school?

I remember once during school, I gave a presentation in French and accidentally mixed up similar-sounding words. The class had a good laugh, but it was a great learning moment for me. It taught me the importance of pronunciation and precision in French, and I've carried that lesson into my teaching.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Travelling to France for the first time was a game-changer. Hearing the language in its native context, interacting with locals, and experiencing French culture firsthand allowed me to refine my accent and pick up on colloquial expressions that aren't typically taught in textbooks.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

I'm a Superprof because I bring both personal experience and a deep understanding of the French language. As a native speaker from Algeria, I know how to approach teaching in a way that is relatable and effective for learners. I make lessons engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's needs.
