About Kayla
I have 6 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. Throughout my teaching journey, I have supported students with different learning styles by creating encouraging, structured, and engaging lessons that help them develop lasting confidence in mathematics. I enjoy making complex algebra concepts accessible through practical examples and patient guidance.
One learner initially struggled with solving equations involving direct variation because identifying proportional relationships within applied problems often led to mistakes. Through carefully guided examples, practical activities, and regular reinforcement exercises, the student gradually mastered the topic and achieved excellent improvement in classroom assessments.
I believe algebra strengthens logical reasoning, analytical thinking, perseverance, and confidence that benefit students throughout their academic and professional lives. My teaching philosophy is centered on helping students develop confidence by understanding mathematical concepts through reasoning, exploration, and consistent practice. Every student begins with an individual learning assessment that evaluates mathematical strengths, previous knowledge, learning preferences, confidence level, and academic objectives. Using these insights, I create customized lesson plans that strengthen foundational algebra skills while gradually introducing more advanced topics.
Students receive instruction in algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, polynomial operations, factorization, rational expressions, radicals, exponential functions, logarithmic relationships, quadratic equations, systems of equations, algebraic modeling, and symbolic reasoning. Lessons combine conceptual explanations, guided demonstrations, visual learning strategies, collaborative discussions, structured exercises, and independent problem-solving activities. Students are encouraged to explain mathematical reasoning, compare different approaches, and recognize patterns that improve analytical thinking and long-term retention.
Practical applications from software engineering, financial analysis, renewable energy, architecture, game development, manufacturing, and transportation planning demonstrate how algebra is applied beyond the classroom. Regular concept reviews, personalized assignments, diagnostic assessments, cumulative revision sessions, and detailed progress reports help students strengthen understanding while preparing confidently for examinations.
