Harold is an excellent teacher - very patient!. I very much enjoyed the learning.

The three things his lessons give that I wasn't getting before (self-teaching with YouTube and dictionaries) are 1) spatial perception -- developing a good visual memory that most hearing people lack and is a obstacle to fluency, 2) accurate vocabulary -- it's REALLY useful to have someone fluent correcting your signs -- when practicing with other ASL students, we often build up bad habits together not realizing what we're doing, 3) culture -- it's just much easier to have someone deaf that you can ask questions about being deaf and the community. My wife says that learning ASL is more like learning a world than a language sometimes. Additionally, he's never missed a meeting. He uses slide shows as teaching aids that make virtual lessons go smoothly. He mixes in humor. I've never seen him get frustrated (which can be very tempting when someone is struggling to learn something that's been automatic for you for years).

I really enjoyed attending Harold lesson, this was my first time taking any ASL class and his lesson were easy and straightforward to follow. Harold is also a very patient teacher.
