About the lesson

I am currently teaching in a secondary school to classes from year 10 and 11 (14-16 year olds) I teach a subject called Curriculum Studies which allows extra lessons for SEN and EFL students to work on Core subjects such as English, Maths and Science. I have previously taught Asdan, GCSE Art and Functional Skills. I am also qualified as an assessor and can offer assistance with vocational qualifications.

I am 37 years old and began my career in education in 2002 working as a behavioural learning assistant within a 14-16 provision at college. I then progressed to instructing lessons and have had experience as a Careers teacher and private tutoring for GCSE English.

I have achieved 10 GCSEs grade C and above, 3 A Levels in English Literature, History of Art and Film Studies grades C and above. I then went on to do a degree BA (Hons) Visual Culture at Falmouth College of Arts.

I enjoy working with young people and pride myself on getting positive results for my students through identifying their learning style and any barriers to their learning. I try to build confidence in every student as often this is the reason they can feel overwhelmed or behind on work. Having a good rapport with learners tends to help progress and I feel I'm open and friendly.
