About Ellie
English Literature has always been a subject I’ve loved and excelled in. Throughout my A-Level studies, I consistently achieved As and A*s in essays, coursework, and class assessments. However, when it came to the final exam, the pressure affected my performance, and I was awarded a B. That experience has stayed with me — not because of the grade itself, but because I knew the material and had the ability, yet exam stress held me back from showing my full potential. This is one of the key reasons I chose to begin tutoring. I understand, on a personal level, the struggles that many students face: the challenge of grasping complex concepts, the uncertainty of building strong arguments, and the nerves that come with exam conditions. These are not just academic hurdles but confidence hurdles, and they can make a huge difference to a student’s final result. My approach to tutoring is built around three principles: clarity, confidence, and exam readiness. I break down challenging ideas into clear, manageable steps, ensuring that students not only understand the text but also feel comfortable analysing it and developing their own arguments. I place a strong focus on essay-writing technique and how to present ideas effectively — a skill that examiners reward highly. Most importantly, I help students develop the confidence to trust their knowledge and stay composed under pressure, so they can achieve the grades that reflect their true ability. Tutoring allows me to combine my passion for English Literature with a genuine commitment to supporting students in reaching their goals. Having been through the process myself, I know how transformative it can be to have someone in your corner offering guidance, reassurance, and strategies that really work. My aim is always to help students unlock their potential, reduce stress, and walk into exams feeling prepared and capable.

My lessons are all about making English Literature feel less overwhelming and more engaging. I help students go beyond memorising quotes and instead learn how to analyse texts, structure strong essays, and build arguments with confidence. I break things down into clear, manageable steps so students don’t just understand the story, but also the deeper themes, context, and writer’s techniques that examiners look for. Each session is tailored to their needs — whether that’s revision planning, improving essay structure, or boosting grades in mock exams. Most importantly, I focus on building confidence so students feel prepared, supported, and capable of reaching their full potential.
