About Jenna
I am a third-year PhD candidate at the University of Arkansas, specializing in botany, evolutionary biology, ecology, and genetics. My research uses a combination of fieldwork, lab work, statistics, and bioinformatics to approach questions on species rarity and evolutionary history. I have 9 years of research experience, and 6 years of mentoring/teaching experience. I have taught many different undergraduate lab courses at my university, including Principles of Biology, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Plant Biology. My tutoring sessions can span any of these topics in particular, as well as other common core biological subjects (cell biology, molecular biology, etc.). My goal is to make these subjects approachable and for the student to gain confidence/make progress!

I have a lot of experience teaching labs for undergraduate students and working with a hands-on approach. I am well-versed in various techniques (i.e. memorization tricks for subjects like taxonomy or anatomy, statistics useful in analyzing biological data, and general understanding of theories etc.). I am flexible in meeting in-person for folks who are local, or meeting online for folks all over. Generally, I work with mostly undergraduate students or high school students, but I can tailor my sessions to middle school or elementary school level.
