About Rowan

I'm personally invested in tuition as I'm currently giving my younger brother regular lessons and tuition as he applies to Oxford, so I have constant feedback and experience when it comes to my method. Beyond that though I just find it deeply enjoyable to share my experiences and ideas with others, and I love the Oxford interview and tutorial format, it's a joy to teach. I also understand students well who may feel themselves stupid, as in my learning journey at times performed very poorly myself, but was able to pick myself up and continue with the help of others like me.

About the lesson

What I have found when teaching kids, especially intelligent kids, is that really what they need is often not a solution, but to be asked the right questions. Often their minds are actually very strong but simply the way a question is asked undermines them. I try my very best to ask the right questions, not to damage students' confidence but also never to let them get away with intellectual laziness as that is what will ultimately cause them the most harm in the future.
