About Kristin
I'm a math teacher with over 20 years experience teaching middle and high school math at all skill levels. I'm only successful once my students experience success, and I'm willing to explain a concept from as many angles as necessary to make it stick!

Every tutoring session is tailored to the student's individual goals, whether that's improving grades, preparing for an upcoming test, mastering challenging concepts, or getting ready for the SAT or the AP Calculus exam.
A typical lesson begins with a brief discussion of what the student is currently learning and any questions or assignments they have. From there, we'll work through problems together, focusing not just on finding the correct answer, but on understanding the underlying concepts and developing effective problem-solving strategies. Mistakes are an important part of the learning process, so we'll spend time talking about common mistakes and how to avoid them.
As an experienced high school mathematics teacher, I know that many students have gaps in prior knowledge that can make new topics feel overwhelming. When needed, I'll revisit prerequisite skills and connect new ideas to concepts the student already understands.
Whenever possible, I use examples from the student's own coursework, textbook, or teacher's materials so that our sessions directly support success in class. My goal is for students to leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of the material, greater confidence, and a plan for continued practice between sessions. I'm also happy to prepare practice sets or study materials in advance as needed.
