About Eve
From a young age I have always been enamoured with reading. In the first academic years of life, I found reading to be a way in which to reach another world, and by A level I saw reading, writing and analysis of books such as 'Heart of Darkness', 'Passage to India' and plays such as 'Macbeth' to be works which each offered a commentary about society which I could absorb and use to understand the world better. I want to help others achieve this feeling, and combine confidence in exam technique with passion for reading and writing. I firmly believe that learning and understanding English Literature and Language is a skill which stays with people for life, and offers a way in which people can relate to the world around them.

In lessons with younger pupils I aim to use a friendly and informal approach to learning to help student develop their literacy and comprehension. This is an attitude I developed as a reading assistant for my local primary school and my work in the children's section of a local library. For older students, I offer a collaborative approach to help curate resources which can be referred back to and used for revision. In literature and poetry I will aim to help students create detailed and focused analysis of their texts whilst teaching literary techniques which can be identified in future learning. My own approach to learning in this same way earned me a 9 in English Literature and A* in English at A Level. In school I spent three years as a Peer mentor and have been offering tutoring lessons to friends and family in English since then. Overall I hope garner both increased understanding of and passion for English, at any age, and enhance the ability of my students to engage in critical analysis of their chosen texts or samples.
