About Elise
I am majoring in Math at JMU, and I have excelled in many high level math classes. I took AP Calculus I and II in high school, and have since taken Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Math. So I am extremely confident in and prepared to teach precalculus, calculus, trigonometry, and algebra material. I have a deep love for math but also understand what it’s like to be a student. I can give deep conceptual explanations as well as practical tips and strategies to make things easier. I am extremely patient and genuinely enjoy answering questions.

It wasn’t long ago that I was a public school student, so I can empathize with students and teach things in relatable ways. I like to use visuals and graphs to explain concepts. I have tutored for years so I have developed many different explanation methods and can personalize lessons to your student! I usually begin by explaining the math concept visually, then outlining step by step procedures. I shine in helping students know when to use which math strategies. I also think practice is critical, so I am happy to help students work through homework or study for exams.
