About Kent
I began crocheting 5 years ago, driven by a desire to explore a craft that blends precision and creativity. I trained in pattern construction, stitch variation, and project design, enabling me to combine technical skill with artistic expression. Teaching became a passion when I realized how rewarding it was to help students progress, build confidence, and discover their creative voice. Working with learners from different backgrounds honed my patience, adaptability, and ability to provide tailored instruction that meets individual goals and strengths. My teaching style is structured, encouraging, and creatively supportive. Lessons incorporate step-by-step demonstration, project work, pattern interpretation, and reflective feedback to guide students through both skill and artistry. I foster creativity while maintaining technical accuracy, ensuring learners feel motivated, confident, and empowered to explore new techniques and designs. Outside of teaching, I design patterns, collaborate with fiber artists, and explore contemporary crochet trends. Crochet has provided me with focus, patience, and artistic satisfaction, which I share with students in every lesson. My aim is to cultivate technical mastery, creative confidence, and a lasting love of fiber arts in every learner.

Crochet lessons with me provide a relaxed, supportive, and highly creative environment where students develop technical proficiency while exploring personal expression. I guide learners through foundational stitches, pattern reading, yarn selection, tension control, shaping, finishing techniques, and project planning. Lessons are structured yet flexible, balancing step-by-step guidance with opportunities for creative experimentation. Students are encouraged to explore textures, color combinations, and design concepts, blending technical mastery with artistry. The learning environment emphasizes patience, focus, and enjoyment, helping learners of all levels feel confident while steadily developing skill and independence. My approach also incorporates mindful practice strategies and reflective feedback to enhance growth, ensuring that students achieve both technical and creative development in their crochet practice.
Lessons progress for beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students. Beginners focus on foundational stitches, small projects, and tension control to establish confidence and consistency. Intermediate students expand their skills with stitch variations, motifs, shaping, and small garment pieces. Advanced learners work on intricate lacework, pattern design, garment construction, finishing techniques, and project conceptualization. Weekly assignments include swatch exercises, design challenges, and guided projects to reinforce skill, encourage creativity, and cultivate problem-solving. Each stage of progression builds confidence, technical ability, and personal artistic voice.
Many students find crochet becomes more than a practical craft—it evolves into a meditative and expressive practice. Learners develop patience, focus, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence as they complete increasingly complex projects. My goal is to help students feel empowered, inspired, and proud of their creations, whether making decorative items, garments, or original designs. Through steady guidance and personalized support, learners gain both technical proficiency and creative independence, fostering lifelong engagement with fiber arts.
