About Julie
I’m a passionate and creative ESL teacher with a Master’s degree in Education and over 9 years of experience helping students grow in confidence and fluency. I have a degree in English Literature and can support you with essay writing, business English, and any other English as a second language learning need. I’ve taught in classrooms and online, and I always make my lessons unique to every student so they can have a meaningful experience. I am originally from Canada but a couple of years ago I moved to Costa Rica for a different experience of life! I now teach English from the jungle, but most of my teaching experience comes from working in Canadian public schools. I am fluent in English and French. Now I am working on my Spanish. I love being in nature, being a mother, cooking, reading, writing and singing. I believe learning a language should be joyful and engaging. I hope every student leaves each lesson feeling more confident and encouraged to keep learning.

I have always believed learning should be fun! My teaching approach is centered on engagement, creativity, and confidence-building. I love to use games, role-play, story-telling, real-life conversations and multimedia resources to make lessons dynamic and meaningful. I am someone with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and I bring that to my teaching.
A typical lesson plan will have a clear objective for the day. We usually begin with:
-a warm-up activity (to review and get comfortable)
-a focused skill segment (grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation)
-interactive practice (games, conversation, or creative expression)
-a short recap and takeaway task
What sets me apart is my ability to make students feel safe and engaged in their learning experience. I have taught English to hundreds of students and I recognize the importance of lessons that are joyful and solid!
My lessons are ideal for older children and adults, from beginners to advanced. Whether you are looking for support with writing, speaking, or are preparing for an exam, I am happy to support your learning journey.
