About John
Excel is one of my specialties. As an experienced CPA who has had both individual and corporate clients, I have constructed both simple to very complex spreadsheets – plus I was always ready to explain how they functioned to my employer, my co-workers, my tax clients, and even auditors!
I offer a multi-session series where I demonstrate how to execute many Excel special functions. Such as creating V-Look ups, H-Look ups, Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Sumif's, "If/Then", “If/And” scenarios; plus linking information from one spreadsheet tab to another tab; and other tips & techniques. At the end of our sessions, I will download the Excel spreadsheet for your review & reference use.
Contact me and we can discuss your situation & what you need to learn & master in Excel in order to succeed both in class and at work!

As both a Controller for privately held companies; a senior accounting position in a global investment bank's financial trust department; and as self-employed CPA – I have had numerous opportunities to coach & mentor my staff & co-workers in the nearly limitless aspects of financial analyses using Excel.
My methodology is quite “hands on” as well as conversational. I may ask what areas do you feel comfortable with versus what are the areas you are not so comfortable in Excel?
My method of tutoring also includes approaching each student and inquire which method may best facilitate their style of learning? Since no two students are alike, I may ask do you want to first attempt the accounting question, then allow me to suggest the next logical step?
Or perhaps you prefer me to demonstrate how I calculate my answers using an Excel spreadsheet & screen-share my work?
Perhaps your method only needs fine tuning with occasional insight; on the other hand, you may want to witness first-hand how a seasoned accounting professional approaches it.
At the end of our time together, I’ll attach my spreadsheet with all my notes for your downloading & review.
Let’s plan to approach each topic in a manner which best accomplishes your goals, answering all your questions, instilling confidence & enthusiasm in a dry subject, and explaining accounting theory when it's not so obvious.

About a year ago or so I was in a bind, I had a project due for my undergraduate 331 accounting class that I had to get at least a 70% on or I would fail. I had really no one to talk to or get help from since I waited until the day before it was due to start working on it. I searched online for tutors and I just happened to find John on a tutoring website. He was extremely helpful on the project. It wasn't that I couldn't do the work, I just needed help organizing the information and really just some guidance to get through the project, since it was a long, drawn, out multi-step accounting project. John was extremely professional and answered all of my questions pertaining to the assignment. I ended up getting a 100% on the project, but if I had not had any help I may have failed the class. I would definitely recommend John to anyone in need of help in accounting.
He takes the time to provide the best explanations until I am 100% on any question! John and I video call and phone call and I feel like I get a good grasp on every topic!

Unfortunately, since I schedule all my sessions on a daily basis often a week or so in advance, missed classes set back both the student and me. Cancellation fees apply for less than twenty-four-hour notice.
