About JUAN
I’m Juan, a conservatory-trained pianist and award-winning composer with 9+ years of teaching experience. I hold a BFA in Music Composition from CalArts and have written music for films, TV, games, and live productions. In lessons, I’m patient, organized, and goal-oriented: you’ll get clear feedback, a simple practice plan, and steady milestones so progress is visible. I’ve successfully taught children, teens, adults, and students with diverse learning needs, and I adapt materials to each person’s pace and interests. My teaching style values kindness, consistency, and accountability. I’m punctual, I communicate clearly, and I prepare thoroughly so your time is respected. Classes available in English or Spanish, but I can also understand intermediate German and some Chinese and Greek. I’m Juan, a friendly, patient piano teacher and award-winning composer (CalArts BFA). I work with kids, teens, and adults. From total beginners to advanced players. I love turning “I wish I could play” into “Hey, I can play this!” My lessons are relaxed but focused. We’ll start with a quick check-in and easy warm-ups to keep hands loose and posture comfy. Then we’ll dig into music you care about: classical, film, pop, or your own songs, while I sneak in the technique, rhythm, and theory you need to sound great. I’ll show you simple practice tricks so you know exactly what to do between lessons, and we’ll celebrate small wins every week. What students say they like most is my calm, encouraging vibe and the way I explain things in plain language. I bring my film-music background to help with storytelling, expression, and memorization, and I’m experienced supporting different learning styles. Whether you’re aiming for exams and auditions or just want to play for fun, I’ll meet you where you are and build a plan that fits your goals and schedule. Classes available in English or Spanish, but I also speak moderate German and a little Chinese and Greek. If you’re ready to enjoy the piano and see real progress, I’d love to help you get there.
