About Naima

I’m Naima Warden, a director, educator, and acting coach with over 15 years of experience training artists at every stage—from beginners to working professionals. I was the Director of Education at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA), where I oversaw curriculum, accreditation, and performance programs while mentoring actors in both classical and contemporary practice. I trained at the London Drama Conservatory in partnership with Marymount College, studying under legends like Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Derek Jacobi, and Roger Allam. My career has since spanned international collaborations with The BRIT School and BOA Academy in the UK, as well as curriculum development for the NYC Department of Education—always with a focus on excellence, equity, and innovation. As a coach, I specialize in Stanislavski technique and Viewpoints, helping actors strengthen truth, presence, and confidence on stage and screen. My sessions are tailored to you: we set goals, work on material, and create practices you can carry into auditions, rehearsals, or performances. I’ve coached actors for projects with Vice Productions, Almeida Theatre, Sonia Friedman Productions, and more, always centering authenticity, story, and voice. Whether you’re preparing for your first audition, training for university, or sharpening your professional edge, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow into the artist you’re meant to be.

My approach as a tutor blends classical training with contemporary techniques. I draw on Viewpoints and Stanislavski to help actors develop presence, authenticity, and versatility in their craft. Lessons are designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re preparing for an audition, deepening rehearsal work, or simply exploring acting for the first time. A Typical Lesson Plan Each session begins with a brief check-in to ground and clarify your goals. From there, we review any materials you’re working on (monologues, sides, or scenes), and then dive into practical exercises. Together, we’ll explore text, movement, and character, while also creating personalized practices you can take with you into auditions, rehearsals, or performances. What Sets Me Apart I believe the most powerful acting comes from truth. My teaching is guided by you—your voice, your body, your spirit. I don’t impose a “one-size-fits-all” method. Instead, I see you for who you are and build from there, creating a supportive space where risk-taking and vulnerability become strengths. Who the Lessons Are For I hold a Master's in Directing, a BFA in Theatre, and have completed multiple certificates and workshops in intimacy training, vulnerability practices, immersive performance, and site-specific new work. My lessons are for students at all levels—from beginners building confidence, to university-level actors refining technique, to professionals seeking to expand their artistry.
