About Richard
I have spent my whole life as a musician - it's the only thing I ever wanted to do. Teaching and sharing my knowledge and experience with others is a very important part of that.
I am a music academy graduate with a degree in conducting and flute; I have been conducting orchestras and ensembles since my 20s and have an extensive knowledge of Classical music in all its aspects - theory, history and performance.
I have always been interested in music technology and am a composer of electroacoustic music. I am very knowledgeable and familiar with computers and music software - I use them every day - these are skills that I teach as well. I can also help advise on music technology related purchases, help set up and install a studio / work space and show you how to maintain and use it.
I am currently the Director of SaMM - a Saturday Morning Music School in Totnes, Devon; Music Director of the Torbay Symphony Orchestra; Director of Thinking Arts - online classes and videos on understanding Classical Music.

I have decades of experience teaching at all levels - I taught at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, am now Director of a Saturday Morning Music School in Totnes, Conductor of the Torbay Symphony Orchestra, Director of Thinking Arts (online sessions and video on understanding and appreciating Classical music) and can tailor our study together to fit your needs and requirements.
